Since last year, Serbia and the Republic of Srpska (RS) celebrate a common holiday on September 15 – the Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag Day.

September 15, was chosen as the date of the new national holiday because on that day in 1918, Serbian army brooked through Thessaloniki front and paved way to  liberate Serbia of the Austria-Hungarian occupation. Volunteers Serbes from America, Russia, South slavic countries under Austro-Hungarian occupation and Macedonia joined the Serbian army that crossed Albania and broke through the Thessaloniki front.

September 15th will be a day to celebrate together in the Republic of Srpska, Serbia and all Serbian communities around the world where Serbs will show that they are one nation and that pain, as well as the success of some, will always be the pain or the joy of all.

In order to mark the new holiday, this September 12th 2021, the victims of the Thessaloniki front will be commemorated at the Serbian Orthodox Church Holy Trinity in Montreal.
